Naim Nelson, Joey Dawejko Win in South Philadelphia

Undefeated junior welterweight Naim Nelson, of Philadelphia, scored a unanimous eight-round decision over previously undefeated southpaw Jerome Rodriguez, of Allentown, PA, in the main event as pro boxing returned to the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia.

Scores were 77-75, 79-73, 80-72 for Nelson, now 12-0, 1 K0.  Rodriguez drops to 6-1-3, 2 K0s.

In the co-feature, heavyweight Joey Dawejko, fresh off a week of sparring with Wladimir Klitschko in Austria, earned a unanimous eight-round decision over fellow-Philadelphian Mark Rideout.

Scores were 78-74, 79-73, 80-72 for Dawejko, now 10-3-2, 3 K0s.  Rideout suffers his first loss and now is 4-1-2, 1 K0.
