BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain to get an update on the status of four-division champion Juan Manuel Marquez who has been out of action since his May 2014 unanimous decision victory over Mike Alvarado.

Marquez has had troubles with his injured knee which has prevented him from returning to the ring.

One name that came up during our conversation is fellow future Hall of Famer Shane Mosley. Beristain revealed that he had always liked the idea of a potential match between the two fighters but feels that Marquez's injury will prevent the fight from ever happening.

"It would have been a great fight," Beristain told BoxingScene.com.  "I always liked Mosley's style and I admire him a lot as a fighter. I remember Mosley's fight against (Migel) Cotto which was a great technical fight. It is a fight I would have liked to have seen but unfortunately I don't think Marquez's knee will allow it to happen."

Marquez has been in the gym attempting to rehabilitate the knee with limited success. An announcement on his career is expected in the next few weeks.
