A date in September would be the perfect time for Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) to return, says his longtime trainer Nacho Beristain.

Marquez, 41-years-old, has been out of the ring since last May when he won a twelve round decision over Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

The Mexican veteran has been very motivated to get back in the ring, for one more fight. There is an ongoing knee injury that started even prior to his fight with Alvarado. The knee continues to act up when Marquez increases the intensity in the gym.

Nacho will support whichever decision his boxer makes. He'd like to see him retire from the sport and focus on his family. If Marquez decides to fight one more time, Nacho will be by his side.

"I could see [him coming back] in September. He looks forward to working in the gym. We have a singular joy whenever he steps in the gym. He works very hard," Nacho said. "I don't know the opponent. I think a world title fight, a title in his fifth division, would be something he'd like. Maybe the British fighter [Kell Brook] or one of the other champions."
