Nacho Beristain is Hospitalized, Reportedly Stable

By Salvador Rodriguez

Legendary Mexican trainer Ignacio 'Nacho' Beristain was hospitalized Wednesday night, south of Mexico City, due to health problems. The trainer's family has refused to confirm the details, but he is reportedly stable. A source close to the family said the trainer underwent surgery for heart problems; but there is no confirmation that a possible heart attack was the cause for the procedure. The Hall of Fame trainer is said to be out of danger and resting.

Beristain is 74 years old and three years ago he was immortalized in the Hall of Fame in Canastota. He's worked with at least 24 world champions, including Juan Manuel and Rafael Marquez, Humberto Gonzalez, Daniel Zaragoza and Gilberto Roman.
