The cruiserweight unification between undefeated world champions Murat Gassiev and Yunier Dorticos is possibly going to take place on January 20th, in a semi-final bout as part of the World Boxing Super Series, according to Gassiev's trainer Abel Sanchez.

Gassiev (25-0, 18 KOs), who is coming off a perfect knockout of former world champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk on Oct. 21, will unify his International Boxing Federation title against Dórticos (22-0, 21 KOs), who holds the World Boxing Association's title.

"We have a very difficult fight, the one that is coming up with Dorticos, who not only has the punch but also came from the Cuban school that gave him many fights and he's visited many places," Gassiev's trainer, Abel Sanchez, told ESPN Deportes. "Mine fighter had only 25 fights as an amateur and he's had 25 as a professional. We've had to improve not only with his punching, but with everything else - but we've had little time. I think that on January 20 we will go against Dórticos and it will be difficult."

Despite the Cuban's abilities, Sánchez hopes that his Russian powerhouse will be able to take advantage in the fight, because he has a determination that he has seen in few fighters and he is excited to think about the possibility of Gassive reaching the final of the WBSS to go against winner of Oleksandr Usyk, head of the World Boxing Organization, and Mairis Briedis, who holds the title of the World Boxing Council.

"I really like not only Gassiev's punch but also his character, his way of being in the ring, he always comes in with a lot of confidence, he's very strong and it's true that maybe he does not have the experience of Dórticos but I'm confident he's going to get him in the center of the ring and get him like he's never done before," predicted Sanchez.

The final round of the WBSS is expected to take place in the month of May, and the winner will take home four world titles and the Muhammad Ali trophy.
