Mthalane Defends IBF Title Against Ricardo Nunez on 9/1

The fight is now official. Panamanian challenger Ricardo "The Mathematician" Nunez will challenge IBF flyweight champion Moruti "Baby Face" Mthalane on September 1 at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama. A press conference was staged by promoter Rogelio Espino to announce some of the event details. Nunez (24-2-0, 20 KOs) will be training for the fight of his life against Mthalane (28-2-0, 19 KOs).

In the co-feature bout, IBF number five ranked at strawweight, Luis "White Bread" Rios (17-1-1, 12 KOs), will go against undefeated Nicaraguan Felix "The Twin" Alvarado (14-0-0 11 KOs).

Also on the show, Panama's former WBA world champion Luis "El Nica" Concepcion (25-3, 20 KOs) returning to the ring against Nicaragua's Cristian Flores (10-5 -1, 5 KOs)..

Great fight, flyweight is really awesome lately. Mthalane is among the most underrated fighters in boxing, I think he may be the best at 112. Too bad that regardless of who wins between Marquez and Viloria, I can't really see…

It could be that he fights at 112 pounds why he gets much attention.

This guy gets no respect. He has been the only fighter to school donaire. Shame he was on his way to beating him till he was cut.
