Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

It is not just new age hype, studies in the area of quantum physics are leading to a growing acceptance of the theory that we can control the outcome of events by concentrating on changing our thought patterns and focusing on our preferred result.

The thoughts we sow are as influential as our actions on the harvest we reap. A farmer sowing wheat in the Spring does not expect to harvest barley in the Autumn. So it is with our thoughts and actions.

If we believe it will be difficult to find new clients, we will be right! If we believe we will never be able to speak in public to promote our services, we will be right. Our belief systems are powerful and can often be limiting.

We need to shift our thinking about our Professional Practices to a model of abundance. Good clients are not hard to find - despite what we may currently "believe". We do not have to compromise our personal values and standards in order to meet the needs of customers. As long as we believe we do, it will in fact become a self fulfilling prophecy.

My suggestion is that you list down your beliefs around your Professional Practice, as many as you can come up with, and analyse them. These beliefs are assessments of your practice - they belong to you not your practice. Can you ground these assessments? Ask yourself:

Is this true?

On what evidence am I assessing this to be true?

What kind of future is open to me if I continue to hold this assessment?

What other possibilities exist for me here?

It is only by becoming conscious of our belief systems that we can check to see if they are serving us well.
