On May 2nd, former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley was an interested spectator at ringside, as he watched two of his former opponents square off in the 'Fight of The Century.' Floyd Mayweather Jr. won a twelve round unanimous decision over Manny Pacquiao to unify the WBO/WBA/WBC welterweight world titles.
Mosley, who lost twelve round decisions to both fighters, viewed their match as a very close contest. He disagreed with the CompuBox punch stats, which saw Mayweather throwing a higher volume of punches.
He felt Mayweather-Pacquiao could have easily been scored a draw. The majority of the ringside press had Mayweather as the winner, but Pacquiao disagrees and believes he did more than enough to win at least seven of the rounds.
"As a boxing person I enjoyed watching the skills of both fighters. I watched Mayweather do a lot of boxing, moving and a little bit of holding - but that's all part of boxing. I watched Pacquiao go in there and throw a lot of punches. I wasn't sure about what they were saying with the punch stats. I didn't agree with that. I thought Pacquiao threw more punches than Mayweather," Mosley said.
"I thought it was a close fight. It was a great fight. It could have possibly been a draw. In the arena it seemed that Pacquiao was doing a little bit more, but when I watched it at home it was different - it seemed that Floyd was doing a little more than Paccquao was."
