More Details on The Passing of Deigo Corrales

By Rick Reeno

Gary Shaw, promoter of Diego Corrales, provided BoxingScene with some additional details on the tragic accident that claimed the life of Corrales.

On Monday evening, at the Fort Apache and Hacienda roads in southwest Las Vegas, Corrales was riding on a racing motorcycle at a very high rate of speed and crashed into the back of a car. The impact of the collision sent Corrales flying from his motorcycle and upon hitting the ground, he was struck by another vehicle.

At the present, there are no signs of alcohol being involved.

"Diego was a warrior. A true warrior. He gave fight fans their money's worth. As a fighter, he should be inducted into the boxing hall of fame. The fight with Castillo was a fight for the ages. He fought with a balls to the walls style and always wanted to give boxing fans a real fight," Shaw said.

I always had a lot of respect for Diego. He was always active and fought the best. R.I.P.
