Monaghan, Zewski, McCumby, Solomon Win in Las Vegas

MORE LIVE RESULTS TO COME..........................

By Rick Reeno

Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas - In a light heavyweight contest, Sean Monaghan (19-0, 12KOs) unloaded with both hands to secure a third round stoppage of Anthony Caputo Smith (14-2, 10KOs). The first two rounds were slow, but then Monaghan let his hands go to batter Smith, which promoted the referee Tony Weeks to step in.

Featherweight contender Jun Doliguez (17-0-1, 13KOs) dropped Mexican veteran Giovanni Caro (23-14-4, 19 KOs) twice for a sixth round stoppage. The match was bloody with plenty of action, but Doliguez wore Caro down and decked him in rounds five and six.

Welterweight contender Mikael Zewski (21-0, 15KOs) overwhelmed and stopped Alberto Herrera in five rounds (9-10-1, 5KOs).

In a light heavyweight rematch, Trevor McCumby (13-0, 10KOs), who is trained by Robert Garcia, won a six round unanimous decision over Eric Watkins (10-5-1, 4KOs). It was a fire fight from the opening bell. Watkins was down in the first. He returned the favor in the second and dropped McCumby. During the fourth Watkins got decked for a second time in the fight. The scores were 59-53, 58-53, 59-53.

Undefeated welterweight contender Brad Solomon (21-0, 8KOs) was too fast and too accurate, dominating overmatched Kenny Abril (14-7-1, 7KOs) on his way to an eight round unanimous decision. The scores were 79-73, 80-72, 79-73.
