According to manager Jorge Barrera, WBO 105-pound champion Moises Funetes (16-1, 8KOs) may still remain at the weight - unless a good opportunity surfaces at junior flyweight. Two weeks ago in Puerto Rico, Fuentes knocked out veteran Ivan Calderon in five rounds. Fuentes had issues making weight for the bout, having to weigh in four times on the scale. Fuentes says there were issues prior to the fight and he doesn't expect the same problem in his next contest.

Barrera says Fuentes may return at the at the end of November in Mexico. Zanfer Promotions would like to match him against WBA junior flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez (33-0, 28KOs) in 2013.
