The respect between Mikkel Kessler and Carl Froch has been evident ever since the two sides agreed to terms for their May 25 rematch at the O2 Arena in London. Plenty of back-and-forth trash talk existed prior to that point, though it all went away once the fight was finalized. That very level of respect was evident on stage Monday in London, when both fighters and their respective promoters did their part to hype up the fight during a pre-fight press conference. A lot of the conversation focused on the first fight, which Kessler won by decision in his native Denmark. Many regard the fight as the best of the two-year long Super Six tournament.

One day after facing the press at the O2 Arena in London, they caught up with the Danish media at a crowded press conference that was televised live all over the Viking Warrior´s home country. On May 25, Kessler and Froch will collide at the O2 Arena in London. “We sold 15,000 tickets on the first day and we´re virtually sold out,” promoter Kalle Sauerland said. “The interest has been huge, but that´s no surprise given the dramatic first fight. The super middleweight unification between Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KOs) and Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KOs) is heading to a date of April 27th, according to sources with knowledge of the details. The original date being circulated was May 25th. The venue will reportedly end up being the O2 Arena in London. The winner of the match will 90 days to deal with IBF mandatory challenger Adonis Stevenson, which means the fight has to happen no later than July 27. Kessler first faced Froch in 2010 as part of the Super Six tournament and won a twelve round unanimous decision.

Mikkel Kessler's manager and advisor Allan Back, speaking to Danish network Sporten, fired back at unified super middleweight champion Andre Ward. BoxingScene.com ran a recent article and video interview with Ward, where the boxer said he "lost all respect" for Kessler - stating the Danish boxer created excuses to explain his technical decision loss when they faced each other in the Super Six. Back says Ward is wrong when he says Kessler is lying about several headbutts that occurred in their 2009 encounter in Oakland, California: "If we take the main issues about the headbutts, that Ward calls accidental, and the boring style, you just have to look at the fight and ask yourself if it's not spoiling and boring when he clinches 88 times", Back says and continues.

Carl Froch is targeting a trip to Montreal later this year for a rematch with Lucian Bute, once he has ‘avenged his loss’ over Mikkel Kessler. The three-time World champion won the IBF belt from Bute last May and it has been reported that the 32 year old Romanian-Canadian could be in line for a shot at the WBC title on the same night as Froch vs. Kessler II.
