WBA "regular" super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35KOs) is responding back to the recent statements that were made by Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs), holder of the WBC and WBA super title. Ward said Kessler and IBF champion Carl Froch are avoiding the possibility of facing him for a second time. Ward decisioned both fighters in the Super Six tournament. Kessler and Froch are likely going to face each other in a 2013 rematch.

"I think Kessler and Froch are made for each other. But I don't think either one of them wants to fight me. I think they should stop misleading the fans and be honest," Ward told Sky Sports.

Kessler denies that claim, stating that Ward is the one who doesn't want to fight him again.

"That's certainly not the case. [That claim] is something that's worse than gossip. I'm not afraid of anyone. Not at all. This is another example from him - that he doesn't want fight me," Kessler said.

[QUOTE=stretchedout]I just believe it is a trivial issue both in the context of his career - Olympic Gold Medallist, Super 6 Champion - and in the way that he has gone about his business inside the ring. It is a trivial issue, way overblown, and has no bearing whatsoever upon any fight result ...

[QUOTE=ShoulderRoll]Would you have been happier if he had fought Jermaine Taylor instead? Don't forget that Taylor had just gotten KOd by Abraham and people were concerned for his health. He had to leave the tournament too by the way. Again that was not Ward's fault. I like most of your p...

[QUOTE=mathed]The Super 6 ruined Ward for me. I thought it was atrocious how every single other fighter in the tourney had to fight in another opponent's home field except Ward. Also, Ward got the added treat of fighting subpar fighters who weren't originally part of the Super 6 and he was dead...

[QUOTE=The Weebler II]I am a Ward fan but objectively I think it would be difficult to be a fan if he headbutted your favorite fighter 5 times unpunished opening two gashes above his eyes and causing him double-vision in the longer term and the inability to see during the fight in the short-term....

[QUOTE=Skittlez]People hate on Floyd because he's a ignorant annoying piece of trash. Nobody hates on Ward.. people's just trolling with that. Ward is a dignified gentleman and a well spoken very articulate champion. Floyd and Pac are mongs. Ward and Wladimir are what champions are suppose ...
