New York - The landscape of boxing has changed. The old guard of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is at an end. The superstar run of Canelo Alvarez has begun with an opening for new stars to join. Trainer Robert Garcia believes it's time for his brother Mikey Garcia (32-0, 28 KO's) to step in.

"I think its Mikey," Garcia told BoxingScene.com. "We have champions like Leo Santa Cruz but I think his weight division might stunt his stardom. Mikey has the ability to fight at lightweight, super lightweight and so forth."

To be a star fighter, you have to fight big fights and Garcia knows that. That's why the trainer feels down the road, Mikey Garcia may have to work with Top Rank to get the biggest fights.

Robert could see his brother being matched up against some of the bigger names from super featherweight to junior welterweight in the coming future.

"We also would love to fight Terence Crawford down the road," Garcia said about his brother fighting Top Rank fighters. "There's also Latinos making a name for themselves right now like a (Felix) Verdejo who looks like he's going to be a superstar.

"I still have a good relationship with Top Rank and we want to continue to be a free agent to fight guys like Vasyl Lomachenko who is a superstar, Like a Felix Verdejo, and Terence Crawford, even Pacquiao if he doesn't retire soon."
