Mikey Garcia vs. Orlando Cruz Showdown in Play

By Mike Coppinger

BoxingScene has been advised by a source close to the negotiations that a Mikey Garcia-Orlando Cruz fight is being discussed.  The source requested anonymity, as they are not authorized to speak on the subject.

Cruz (19-2-1, 9 KOs) made the news last October when he came announced he was gay, becoming the first known openly gay boxer. He would first have to get past a March 15 stay-busy fight against Aalan Martinez (14-1-1, 10 KOs).

Garcia (31-0, 26 KOs), who is trained by his older brother Robert Garcia, won the WBO featherweight title in January with a technical decision victory over Orlando Salido.
