| Mikey Garcia-Jonathan Barros Agreement Reached, 11/10
|
|
By Jhonny Gonzalez According to members of Jonathan Barros' team, he will not fight in a scheduled eight round bout on November 10th in Mendoza, Argentina - and instead Barros agreed to accept an HBO televised fight against undefeated Mikey Garcia (29-0, 25KOs) at the Wynn in Las Vegas, Nevada. There is a "verbal agreement" in place and a contract has been sent over to Barros. Barros will replace the injured Orlando Salido, who withdrew with a hand injury. Barros (34-3-1, 18KOs), a former WBA featherweight champion with a few notable wins, moved up to 130-pounds in his last fight and lost a twelve round decision to IBF champ Juan Carlos Salgado on August 18th in Puebla, Mexico. Barros has never been stopped, with his other two defeats coming to Yuriorkis Gamboa and Celestino Caballero - but he defeated Caballero in their first meeting last July in Argentina. The main event will feature a WBC junior middleweight eliminator between unbeaten contenders Vanes Martirosyan and Erislandy Lara. This fight is ok by me, especially since Salido withdrew from injury. I am just glad Mikey is going to fight a replacement, and not a tomato can at that. Barros is a solid fighter. I bet he is excited too. If he was to beat Garcia, he would shoot right back up to the top of the list. |
| Its not Mikeys fault |

Believe me when I tell you /Mike had nothing to do with this he wants champions but none of them want to fight him . Cameron his boxing manager picks his opponents.

[QUOTE=jsfd26]It's sad when you have 30 fights under your belt and people are going around calling Barros a step up, someone who just lost. Least they could've done was find someone coming off of a couple of wins. Garcia fans suffer from Canelo fans syndrome: "at least he tried" :lol1:Posted from... |

This fight is perfectly fine, and should be considered a step-up. Barros isn't shop-worn, and has only lost to top opponents. |
