Former two division world champion Mikey Garcia is willing to sit down with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to discuss a potential working relationship.
Garcia recently became a free agent after a long legal battle with former promoter Top Rank.
Once he became a free agent, Garcia (34-0, 28KOs) began receiving offers from several interested parties, including Mayweather, who promotes a growing stable under his Mayweather Promotions banner.
Garcia, who won world titles at featherweight and super featherweight, has been inactive since dominating Juan Carlos Burgos over twelve rounds in January 2014.
At only 28-years-old, Garcia is confident that he get his career back on track. He is looking at a tentative return date in August and is likely going to compete at junior welterweight once he's back in the ring.
"I've been training and trying to see when I'll fight but it's not been that easy. There are many details, rival promoters, managers, looking for when television stations are not busy for dates. The venue of the fight will be in California. Things are not going as fast as one would like, but we are doing well, "Garcia told ESPN Deportes.
"The good thing is that I have been approached by several promotional companies, but they have been talking mainly with my brother (Robert). I'm not worried, I do not want to rush myself in making a decision and take myself to where I was before."
One of those interested parties is Mayweather, who has a lot of influence with adviser Al Haymon at his side. Garcia is going to listen to all offers that are placed on the table.
"Mayweather wants to take some time to talk to me and present me with a possible offer. I will listen," Garcia said.
