NEW YORK -- THE Raging Bull, Jake LaMotta, has teamed up with "LEMMY" co-director and producer Greg Olliver for a feature length documentary about the Champ's life and career. Mike Tyson also appears in the film.
Jake LaMotta is the former world middleweight champion best known for having his life portrayed by Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's Academy Award winning "Raging Bull", and being the first boxer to beat Sugar Ray Robinson.
Currently 91 years old, Jake is the oldest, living world champion and boxing hall-of-famer. His life is also portrayed in the upcoming feature film, "The Bronx Bull", starring William Forsythe.
"I am honored to be working with the Champ. There is much, much more to learn about Jake than what you see in Raging Bull, and it seems like he's been ready to make this documentary for quite a while… he's ready to talk." said Greg Olliver.
Olliver co-directed and produced "LEMMY", the award-winning film about Motorhead's frontman, Lemmy Kilmister. He also recently completed "Turned Towards the Sun", a documentary about WWII British Commando, poet and adventurer Michael Burn, M.C. Along with a soon-to-be-released psychological thriller titled DEVOURED, Greg is also currently finishing a film about blues legend Johnny Winter.
Filming with Jake began this past January in Arizona, and will follow him from New York City to Miami and other locations over the course of the next few months. Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson, also appears in the film along with other notable athletes, actors and Jake's friends & family. Expected completion of the film is late 2013.
The film is being produced independently through Olliver's production company, Secret Weapon Films in New York City.
