New York City - Heavyweight Mike Perez was deeply saddened to hear of the injuries suffered by Magomed Abdusalamov during their 10-round battle on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.
 
Abdusalamov is being treated at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.
 
“’Mago is in my thoughts and prayers and I hope he recovers quickly,” said Perez. “He fought like a true warrior, I’m happy to be victorious but my main concern is for his health.”
 
Added Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, “Our entire team was very saddened to hear of the injuries that Magomed sustained during his bout on Saturday night. He is in our thoughts and prayers and we thank his team for keeping us updated on his condition.”
 
Stated Patrick Thomas of Team Thomas Boxing, “Everyone at Team Thomas wishes a full and speedy recovery to Magomed.”Tags: Mike Perez , Magomed Abdusalamov

These were heavyweight power punchers trading blows throwing as many punches as lightweights it was a brutal fight of the year candidate, the ref should have stopped it. I cheered both guys, but now I feel hurt and pain this is sad.

Trainers have to protect the fighter when he knows his guy is losing, has nothing to give, taking a beating and refuses to quit. Smh
