Highly touted Michael Conlan (1-0, 1 KO) will be making his second outing as a professional prizefighter on May 26th at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Conlan, made his much ballyhooed pro debut on March 17th at the Theater in Madison Square Garden where he stopped Tim Ibarra in three rounds in front of a sold-out crowd.
Now, Top Rank looks to round out the card in 'the Windy City'.
Brad Goodman, matchmaker for Top Rank tells BoxingScene.com,"We got Michael Conlan headlining along with Alex Saucedo and Mike Alvarado will be fighting Mathew Strode, just basically a tune-up type fight and the next fight will be a bigger and better fight for him."
The often-troubled Alvarado is on the comeback trail having notched victories over Josh Torres and Saul Corral in 2016. His career hit rock bottom in January of 2015 when he was blown out in three rounds by Brandon Rios in their rubber match. The 36-year old native of Denver, Colorado has a record of 36-4(24 KO's).
Saucedo (24-0, 15 KO's) last fought on the Conlan card and scored a second round stoppage of Johnny Garcia.
"Saucedo will probably by the co-main versus T.B.A (to be announced)," said Goodman. I have high hopes for him and he'll be active this year, he'll be very active. I see him becoming a ten-round fighter and competing with the C-plus, B-minus type of guys."
Also on this bill will be highly regarded welterweight prospect, Egis Kavaliauska s(16-0, 13 KO's) who on April 8th knocked out Ramses Agaton in four.
