| Mike Alvarado-Mauricio Herrera To Open Gamboa-Rios

By Osman Rodriguez According to Top Rank's VP, Carl Morretti, junior welterweight Mike Alvarado (32-0, 23KOs) will face Mauricio Herrera (18-1, 7KOs) on April 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Alvarado returns from last November's thrilling tenth round knockout of Breidis Prescott, while Herrera is riding a big run which includes wins over Mike Dallas Jr. and Ruslan Provodnikov. Alvarado-Herrera will open up the HBO broadcast, with lightweights Brandon Rios and Yuriokris Gamboa trading big punches in the televised main event. I have to give Top Rank/HBO/Hershmen credit these are 2 very tv friendly fights and will def be fun to watch I know what im watching April 14th. Rios and Alvarado win by ko. Hopefully Rios and Alvarado meet someday @ 140. |
