Mike Alvarado: I'll Exploit Every Weakness on Marquez!

By Mike Coppinger

Mike Alvarado is badly in need of an upset win Saturday after taking a beating from Ruslan Provodnikov. A loss to Juan Manuel Marquez and that will be three losses in his last four fights.

But Alvardo isn't worried about the tall order ahead of him on HBO. In fact, he thinks he has the future Hall of Famer all figured out.

"Style-wise, I feel that (Marquez) is tailor-made (for me)," Alvarado said on a conference call Tuesday. "He's a legend. He's not a very hard man to figure out. I'm gonna exploit every weakness."

A win would likely lead to a big-money fight with Manny Pacquiao in the fall, a fact that is "very motivation, it makes me train harder." But first, Alvarado must beat the odds and top JMM, knowing a loss could torpedo his promising career.

"I wanna win this fight," Alvarado said. "I still have a long career ahead of me."

Mike will have some success in the early rounds but once JMM adjusts to his attack it will be lights out for Alvarado. I see a KO around....the eighth or ninth round.

I think Alvarado's gonna do just fine. He was huge at 140, he'll feel better weighing in at 143. As an Alvarado fan i wish this fight was at the full 147. I hate catchweights.
