Mijares Stops Jacobo, Targets Terrazas-Santa Cruz Winner

By Miguel Rivera

Comitan, Chiapas, Mexico - Former champion Cristian Mijares (48-7-2, 23 KOs) scored a sixth round technical knockout over Carlos Jacobo (20-6-1, 16 KOs) in a bout fought at a max-weight of 128-pounds. Mijares returned for the first time since losing a split decision victory to WBC super bantamweight champion Victor Terrazas in April. Terrazas will defend his title against undefeated mandatory challenger Leo Santa Cruz on August 24th at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles. Mijares would like to get his hands on the winner.

"Terrazas should not have that belt. I won that fight," Mijares said.

Man, since his run as a top P4P fighter he's been screwed over quite a few times. Really should have won two more titles quite clearly already, but he's been given the short end of the stick. He definitely won…
