Looking to face the best of his division has always been a priority for three-time world champion, Erik "El Terrible" Morales, who in his quest to win his fourth divisional world title, was denied a victory by the judges in April when he faced Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas. The pride of Tijuana, Baja California, is preparing to return to the ring by August, either in Las Vegas or Mexico City. He notes the refusal of Maidana for a rematch, awaits a response from Britain's Amir Khan for a future clash, and wants a shot at the current IBF lightweight champion Miguel "Puppet" Vazquez.

Former champion Michael Katsidis is trying to stage his next fight in Australia in mid to late August. The boxer has not fought in the country in five years. Vasquez's last win was over another Australian boxer, Lenny Zappavigna, which took place on the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga undercard in March. Vazquez and his team are not interested in facing Katsidis, telling the Aussie's team they don't have the cash to make it possible.

Following his impressive unanimous decision victory over Leonardo Zappavigna (25-1), IBF lightweight champion Miguel "Titere" Vazquez (28-3) advised BoxingScene.com that he was looking to make his next title defense on the undercard of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr-Sebastian Zbik middleweight championship bout that takes place on June 4th. Vazquez's victory over Zappavigna took place on the Miguel Cotto versus Ricardo Mayorga pay-per-view undercard that took place this past March in Las Vegas.

Vazquez is known as a good counter-puncher with an awkward style who fights similarly to Miguel Acosta, which is the boxer who Brandon Rios knocked out in February to capture his first world title.
