Miguel Vazquez-Ammeth Diaz Could Head To Panama

According to Panamanian promoter Rogelio Espino, Ammeth Diaz (32-11, 23 KOs) may get the homefield advantage in his rematch with IBF lightweight champion Miguel "Puppet" Vazquez (33-3, 13 KOs) on the 28th in September. The fight appeared to be heading to the champion's backyard of Mexico, but Espino says Vazquez's handlers are willing to consider Panama - if the money makes sense. Zanfer Promotions, who have Vazquez, won the IBF's purse bid with a $51,000 bid. The champion will receive 75% of that money. Vazquez previously defeated Diaz last year with a twelve round unanimous decision.

So Diaz will be paid 12k for a world title fight. On a related note, IBF flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane will also make 12k for his mandatory defense against Silvio Olteanu, who will make only 1.8k. I know boxers can…
