WBO junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is ready to call it a career in December.

In his last appearance at the Garden, he won his fourth world title in a different division by dethroning then-middleweight champion Sergio 'La Maravilla' Martinez in a clash held in June 2014.

This past Saturday night, Cotto captured the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight belt - his sixth world title - with a dominant twelve round unanimous decision over Yoshihiro Kamegai at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

It was Cotto's first ring return since losing a twelve round unanimous decision in November 2015 to Canelo Alvarez.

Some of names floating around for his next fight include David Lemieux, Amir Khan, and the winner of next month's fight between Canelo and Gennady Golovkin.

"I have no problem facing any (of those mentioned names). With that I have no problem, but December 31, 2017 is my last day in boxing. I have enough savings for my children to be educated. Now what I have left is to enjoy the time I have remaining," said Cotto to Carlos Narvaez.

"We will see how things are going and we will do what we have to do. I do not have any problems with that. In October we will return to the Wild Card and enjoy the time remaining and in December we will face the best name that exists on the paper to star in one more fight."

Cotto was pleased with his performance against Kamegai, an opponent who withstood all of his arsenal.

"We knew who we were up against and we did what we had to do to win the fight. It met the expectations and the goal," added Cotto, who has a professional mark of 46-5 and 33 KO's.
