Miguel Cotto: I've Earned My Respect, We'll See Who Wins

WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) is well aware of the odds for his upcoming defense against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs). Cotto defends the crown on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Cotto is not listening to the oddsmakers. He realizes that Mayweather is treating him with with a lot of respect in the pre-fight promotions, but the Puetro Rican star believes the respect has been earned with years of hard work.

"Here [in this fight] no one is giving me any chance [to win]. Everything that I have received in my life I've earned and I've worked for this. I understand the respect that Mayweather has given to me and has given to my career, but I've earned it and I've worked to make this happen. I thank him for the way that he's treated me before the fight, but on May 5th we'll see who the winner will be," Cotto told Carlos Gonzalez.

the only way cotto can compete in there is if he goes to the body. I don't understand why he abandoned the left hook to the body. he needs to pressure and go to the body like castillo did .…

The feeling seem mutual between Floyd and Cotto, regardless of the outcome on May 5th, the two would become friends after like Winky Wright and Tito Trinidad, but not the gayish Oscar is to Hopkins.:rofl:
