Sources have told BoxingScene.com that a new contender has emerged to face WBC middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs). There had been a lot of talk of the likes of Cornelius 'K9' Bundrage and Jorge Sebastian Heiland facing the Puerto Rican star in early June.
But now it seems that Daniel Geale (31-3, 16KOs), who has held portions of the middleweight title twice in the past, is the frontrunner to land this assignment. The date and venue of this fight is still to be determined.
Last summer, Geale was stopped by WBA middleweight titlist, Gennady Golovkin, then rebounded to beat fellow Australian, Jarrod Fletcher over twelve rounds in December.
No word on which network would televise this potential match-up.
