Miguel Acosta Arrives To Las Vegas For Rios Bout

WBA Lightweight champion, Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta landed in Las Vegas today for his big showdown against Brandon Rios next Saturday in Las Vegas. Acosta who will take on Rios at the Palms was accompanied by his father and trainer Rafael Acosta, his brother Enrique Acosta and his wife Karla. The fight will be telecast by Showtime.
 
Acosta, 28-3-2, (22 KOs) of Caracas, Venezuela, has won 19 fights in a row and for seven years, remains undefeated. Acosta has beaten three undefeated fighters in his last eight bouts.
 
Rios, 26-0-1, (18 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., gave a sensational performance at the Palms where he looked powerful and precise while scoring a career-best win, a seventh-round disqualification over Anthony Peterson in a battle of rising stars. Rios is managed by Cameron Dunkin and is trained by Robert Garcia in Oxnard.
 
The card will include undefeated sensation Roberto Marroquin (18-0, 14 KOs) of Dallas, Texas who will take his toughest opponent to date, Gilberto Sanchez Leon (28-8-2, 10 KO's) of Mexicali, Mexico in an eight round super bantamweight bout.
 
Also in action, local favorites Jesse Magdaleno (2-0, 2 KOs) and Anthony Lenk (9-1, 4 KOs), as well as young heavyweight Andy Ruiz (9-0, 6 KO's) who is trained by Freddy Roach and Notre Dame's own Mike Lee (3-0, 2 KOs) of Chicago. 
 
Tickets are $200, $100 and $50 plus applicable fees and are on sale now. Doors will open at 3 p.m. with the first fight slated to begin at 4 p.m. The Pearl Box Office is open Sunday from noon - 7 p.m., Monday from noon - 10:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from noon - 7 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon - 10 p.m. The Pearl is sponsored by Citi; for more information on upcoming concerts, please call 702.942.6888.
