BoxingScene.com caught up with undefeated lightweight Mercito Gesta (26-0-1) shortly after his 9th round knockout of Ty Barnett (19-3).
Gesta said that he is hoping to get a title shot. In his next fight and that he is gunning for former super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20KOs) who is moving up to the lightweight division for his next fight.
"I want Adrien Broner next," Gesta stated. "He is a good fighter. He is one of the best and I want to fight the best. So why not? He says he's the best so he should fight me."
Gesta is promoted by Top Rank and Broner is promoted my Golden Boy which makes the match up very unlikely. When I reminded Gesta of that he said - "I will fight anybody. I want to fight for a title. It doesn't matter who it is against."
