| Mercito Gesta To Return on July 20th ESPN FNF Card

By Chris Robinson It was no secret that undefeated lightweight contender Mercito Gesta (25-0, 13KOs) and his team had been angling for a July 14th showdown at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas with Juan Manuel Marquez, but with the Mexico City stalwart not opting to push forward with that date, plans have obviously changed. Last night, Gestas trainer Vince Parra advised me that Gesta will now be showcased on a July 20th ESPN bill at a venue to be determined. Gesta had planned to begin training in Big Bear, California on June 1st but it now looks like his camp will be pushed back until the middle of next month. No word yet on Gestas foe but Parra did show preference towards undefeated Colombian Darley Perez. Expect more on Gesta as the story develops and stay tuned for an in-depth one on one with Parra

gesta imo shouldn't have even been mentioned as a possible opponent for marquez considering he really had done nothing to deserve that shot. I think gesta fighting this undefeated fighter next is a good step up...wouldn't mind seeing it. |
