Mendez-Velasquez Pushed Up To May 18th Main Event

By Reynaldo Sanchez

Lightweight contender Argenis Méndez will face the Mexican Héctor Velásquez in the main event of the card “D-Day II Dominican Dominations” at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino of Hollywood, Florida on Friday May 18th.

Due to the illness of Ed Paredes, who was scheduled to fight in the main event of the night, promoter Acquinity Sports made a final decision to bump Argenis Méndez vs. Héctor Velazquez to the main event slot.

Also, in the co main event, unconquered from Dominican Republic, featherweight Claudio “The Matrix” Marrero, will face Mexican José Ángel Beranza in a ten round bout.

In other fights, bantamweight Juan Carlos Payano faces the Aztec Luis Maldonado. Cuban light heavyweight Humberto Savigne will be facing Jamaican Richard Hall. Heavyweight Glendy Hernández faces Harvey Jolly. Also, Félix Díaz goes against Javier Pérez.

In the next few days, the promoters will announce the name of the network broadcasting the event in the Dominican Republic. The executives of Acquinity Sports are working hard to provide the event to the Dominican boxing fans.
