BoxingScene.com spoke to Filipino welterweight prospect Mark Melligen (20-2) about his upcoming fight vs Gabriel Martinez (20-2) of Mexico. Melligen has won 4 fights in a row since losing a decision to Michel Rosales in 2009.

Melligen told BoxingScene that he is looking to make a statement in this fight. His opponent has only one blemish on his record and that was against Saul Alvarez. "I will knock him out. I will knock him out within 5 to 7 rounds," said a smiling Melligen.

Melligen hopes that strong showing will earn him a step up fight the next time he steps in the ring. "I want to get to the bigger fights. I want Alfonso Gomez next."
