Floyd Mayweather Jr. caught a lot of heat on Friday, during the last stop of his four city media tour to promote next month's showdown with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
Mayweather had a tough time with a London crowd that was absolutely pro-McGregor. When he delivered his familiar “hard work” chant, the crowd responded “same old, same old”; taunts at McGregor led to a lengthy “sit down, shut up” chant; while an attempt to have the crowd sing McGregor happy birthday saw ‘The Notorious’ turn the tables and ask for a “F*** Floyd Mayweather” outburst on the count of three - which was delivered with loud relish.
After McGregor was slammed for a number of racially-charged comments towards the boxing legend in earlier stops, Mayweather found himself with some issues of his own by calling McGregor a “f**got”.
Ironically, the homophobic slur came after Mayweather tore into McGregor over comments that were allegedly racist in nature.
“You punk. You f**got. You hoe,” Mayweather stated on stage at the SSE in Wembley.
McGregor was unaware that Mayweather even used the word during the verbal back and forth.
But, McGregor made it very clear that he has no issue with Mayweather's use of the word and believes people being are too sensitive these days.
“I actually didn’t even hear that. People are so touchy on words. It’s absolutely crazy. If he said that, I couldn’t give a f***. I think what he was trying to do was to switch it up and get the people back in his favor. I think it was a bit of a b*tch move to try and instigate that on me," McGregor told media.
“Everyone with a sane mind that is watching knows what way it is. It is what it is. Some dirty tactics out there, but that’s what to expect. The fight game is a ruthless business.”
