Mayweather Taking Heat Over His Take on #MeToo Movement

Former five division world champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) is taking some heat over his recent statements during an interview with Men's Health.

The question and answer session took place at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where the retired boxer was showcasing the debut of Mayweather Boxing + Fitness.

Mayweather's new venture is a virtual reality workout experience that lets users spar with and get coached by a virtual Floyd.

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Mayweather will also be opening a franchise of gyms all over the world, starting with a facility in Los Angeles that's said to be opening in three weeks' time. It'll offer a 32-person group workout class that combines bag routines with functional training.

After the presentation, he spoke to Men's Health and tackled questions regarding a series of topics - including the #MeToo movement.

"Me Too" has spread virally as a two-word hashtag used on social media to denounce sexual assault and harassment, in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein and numerous other high profile celebrities and executives.

Many of the #MeToo followers have expressed anger at Mayweather, who has a history with domestic violence accusations, because they felt the undefeated fighter made light of their movement during the series of questions at CES.

We're asking a lot of men, in light of the #MeToo movement, how men can grow in 2018.

The who?

The #MeToo movement. Women speaking out about sexual assault.

When you say "me too" ... When somebody is like, "I got a Rolls Royce, I be like 'me too.'" When somebody say they got a private jet, I say, "Me too. I got two. Me too."

This is a very different —

Well, I didn't know! My Me Too movement from the beginning was whenever somebody said what they have I'm like, "me too." Somebody say they got a billion dollars, I say, "I made a billion dollars, me too."

I know you have a sensitive side. You’ve talked about your sensitive side before.

Of course. I mean, you live and you learn. I think everyone, if you’re in an uncomfortable position, you have to pray about it, you know, talk about it, and I think that, you know, sexual harassment, I don’t think it’s cool at all.

Floyd is the missing link between liquidity and stupidity.

[QUOTE=ruedboy;18399262]The problem wasn't Floyd not knowing about the #MeToo thing, it was that he made a joke about it after the questioner told him what it was. It seems for a businessman trying to get a gym franchise off the…

I never even heard of the movement, as if a multi-millionaire / billionaire is gonna give a **** about what goes on in the world. It was a set-up to raise publicity for the movement, and Mayweather was their sacrificial…
