WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not buying the right shoulder injury claim by Manny Pacquiao. The two boxers fought in the richest event in boxing history on May 2nd, with Mayweather winning a twelve round unanimous decision when the smoke was cleared.
Mayweather says he's very upset with Pacquiao for telling reporters that his performance was affected because he entered the fight with a right shoulder injury and further hurt himself in the fourth round. He says he tore his rotator cuff in the fourth.
Mayweather saw no indication during that action that Pacquiao was suffering any form of shoulder injury.
"After the fight, you know, when he was sitting in the corner no one was rubbing his shoulder. I mean, for him to say that he had a torn rotator cuff - that's ridiculous. If his hands would have got raised he wouldn't have said that. I mean, if you go back and you look at the weigh-in he raised both arms extremely high," Mayweather told DJ. Whoo Kid on Shade 45 Radio.
"Throughout the whole week in training camp, you know, leading up to the fight when he was going to the boxing gym and he was having workouts - he was throwing his left hand and his right hand extremely hard and extremely fast. But like I've said before, the only thing that I can do is go out there and continue to do what I do best - and that's to be a winner, no matter how you win as long as you win."
