Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs), says his son is battering sparring partners in the ongoing training camp. Mayweather is preparing himself for the upcoming mega-fight with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao. The highly anticipated event takes place on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
He says his son is not only beating sparring partners up - knockouts are being scored by way of head shots and body punches. Sometimes the sparring partners are quitting and other times the sessions get so one-sided they are stopped.
"My son, somewhere in there everyday he ends up getting the best of everything. Today he whooped some other guy, like he does every day. It’s just what it is. A lot of them take whoopings, sometimes they stop it. Floyd does different things, sometimes he goes to the body and stops the guys and sometimes he throws to the head. Sometimes the guy will stop it. He’s just ready, that’s all I’m trying to say," Mayweather Sr. told On The Ropes Boxing Radio .
Mayweather Sr. shoots down any claims of Floyd having hand issues, getting lumped up in the gym or being pushed around by any of the sparring partners.
"I haven’t seen any problem. I haven’t seen any problem with that, I haven’t seen any problem when they were talking about Zab Judah knocking Floyd down. They were talking about sparring partners giving it to little Floyd. None of that stuff happened, none of it," Mayweather Sr. said.
