Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr., was an interested observer at Wednesday's final press conference for Saturday collision between Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Mayweather Jr. has already beaten both fighters. He won a tough twelve round decision over Cotto at 154-pounds in 2012. The following year he dominated Canelo over for another twelve round decision victory.

The respective promoters of both fighters are very interested in getting Mayweather in the ring for a rematch.

Mayweather (49-0, 26KOs) announced his retirement in September and claims that he intends to stay away from the ring, but most industry insiders expect him to return in 2016.

Saturday's fight is taking place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds. Mayweather has never fought above 154-pounds and the bout with Canelo took place at 152. He is unlikely to face either at 155.

Regardless of the winner, Floyd Sr. feels confident his son would beat either fighter in a rematch.

"My son’s a way better fighter [than Cotto]. I’m pretty sure [Floyd] could take the winner, but I’m going to look at it myself and touch base with what I see. And I know what Floyd can do. I’m going to look at it real good and make sure nothing gets past me. I might say ‘Let’s go do this,’” Mayweather Sr. said.
