The head of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, has revealed that his organization is going to spend a lot of money in constructing the special WBC emerald championship for the winner of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, which takes place on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The special belt is covered with three thousand small emeralds. Sulaiman is unsure of the exact cost and says the amount is irrelevant.

"[The expense does] not matter because it is an invaluable piece that is being handmade for something spectacular taking place on May 2nd," Sulaiman said. "It will take three thousand emeralds [to make]. We do not know the cost, the weight, I know it is invaluable. It will go to the winner of the biggest fight of modern history."

The belt is going to be completed by April 16th. And the WBC will hold a press conference to show it off. There is also a potential tour in the works, where fans will have the opportunity to view the belt in person and take photos with it.

"Maybe [we'll have a tour with the belt]. There could be some logistical complications but it is something we would like. This is going to be spectacular, beautiful, and yes we would like to give people the opportunity to take a photo with belt," Sulaiman said.
