According to World Boxing Council [WBC] President Mauricio Sulaiman, the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao has to happen in 2015. The hype for Mayweather-Pacquiao has once again erupted following Pacquiao's public challenge which came in the post-fight press conference after his dominating win over Chris Algieri last Saturday night in Macau, China.
“People want to see Pacquiao inside the ring with Mayweather. It is a match that the whole world is waiting for,” Sulaiman said. “If Mayweather retires without facing Pacquiao, the question about which of them being the best in the world will continue to linger. There is no other fight in this decade that has been expected for so long."
But Mauricio is also fully aware that the negotiations between the two great fighters, their promotional companies, and how the pie will be divided up - is not going to be a piece of cake.
He exclusively told the WBC website: "It all comes down to money and egos, and therefore those factors are outside the area of boxing. However, we will do everything we possibly can to help make it happen."
