The World Boxing Council is creating a special "emerald belt" for the winner. And now a bronze, gold plated trophy will be the special award that the World Boxing Association will present to the winner of the mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The news was confirmed by WBA Vice-President Jesús Gilberto Mendoza.
"There will be a special trophy on our part. We have not named it yet, because we are still designing it," announced Mendoza during his trip in Mexico.
As for the fight he said - "it will depend on the styles. We know Floyd Mayweather’s style is to box and counter-attack, great defense. There will be distance between the two boxers that can make it a bit tedious at times."
He also said that: “Pacquiao aggressiveness can turn against him”, he also made clear that he was talking as a boxing fan, and not as a boxing directive. He said that Mayweather “may win by a very close decision."
