WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman was very satisfied with last Saturday's victory by Floyd Mayweather Jr., who won a twelve round unanimous decision over Manny Pacquiao to unify the WBA/WBC/WBO welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"It was a tremendous fight, a fight that highlights the greatness of a pure boxer, a classic boxer, who completely dominated a great fighter like Manny," said Sulaiman. "Mayweather had a formidable fight before him. He did what he had to do and completely dominated Pacquiao and during his time he dominated others. We at the WBC can only be happy that he's been so successful."

After the, Mayweather pledged to vacate all three of his welterweight titles, and his two titles, under the WBC and WBA, at junior middleweight. Sulaiman says there has been no notification as of yet from Mayweather that he plans to follow through with that decision.

"It's common for a fighter to say certain things in the ring or in the locker room after finishing a fight. We will wait to receive confirmation, for something official - but the position of the WBC is that we will always support Floyd Mayweather."
