Mayweather-McGregor News; Burnett-Zhanat Zhakiyanov, More

LAS VEGAS  - Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem prior to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor main event Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Lovato is a GRAMMY-nominated artist with one of the world's most powerful voices on-and-off the stage and will be singing the anthem at a boxing event for the first time in her career. With more than 6 billion global single streams and nine platinum and multi-platinum singles to her name, Lovato recently released "Sorry Not Sorry," which has quickly become one of 2017's biggest hits.
 
Mayweather vs. McGregor is a 12-round, super welterweight matchup that pits the legendary boxer Mayweather against the all-time MMA great McGregor in the main event of an unprecedented four-fight pay-per-view boxing card. Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Saturday, Aug. 26 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event is produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV and promoted by Mayweather Promotions. The telecast also will be available in Spanish using secondary audio programming (SAP).

Tickets for the historic unification battle between IBF Super Bantamweight king Ryan Burnett and WBA ruler Zhanat Zhakiyanov at the SSE Arena Belfast on October 21, live on Sky Sports, will go on sale next Tuesday August 29.

Burnett makes the first defence of his crown having ripped the title from Lee Haskins in Belfast in June, and the unbeaten 25 year old faces a tough on a momentous night in front of his home town fans as Kazakh Zhakiyanov – trained by British legend Ricky Hatton – puts the WBA crown on the line following an impressive February win over Rau’shee Warren in his backyard in Ohio to claim the title.

The pair are set to come face-to-face at a press conference in Belfast on Wednesday August 30, where promoter Eddie Hearn will reveal the early news on the undercard.

Tickets go on sale to Matchroom Fight Pass members at midday on Tuesday August 29 at www.StubHub.co.uk priced at £30, £40, £60 and £100 with VIP tickets priced at £150.

Tickets go on general sale at midday Wednesday August 30 priced at £33, £44, £65 and £105 from the SSE Arena Belfast at www.ssearenabelfast.com (ticket price includes inside Booking Fee)

When WBC World Champion Mairis Briedis (22-0, 18 KOs) faces Mike Perez (22-2-1, 14 KOs) in a quarter-final bout at the World Boxing Super Series at the Riga Arena, September 30, the two warriors will enter a packed arena. Tickets are on sale ranging from €20.60 to €175.60.

“It’s great to know already now, that I can expect a huge crowd at the Riga Arena,” said Briedis after several thousand tickets sold in only a few days. “I’ve heard Perez saying he will not be affected by the crowd in Latvia, but he will hear and see the next level of passion.”

Mike Perez: “All I know is Briedis is a busy fighter who likes to come forward. I also know that I believe I am the best cruiserweight in the world and I am ready for whatever Riga brings.”

Kalle Sauerland, Comosa´s Chief Boxing Officer: “We knew that Briedis was a hot property and a local hero, but as this is the first major Championship fight ever in Latvia we are excited that we will have a full house on Sep 30 for which will be a real war between two warriors.”
