Mayweather-Maidana 2: Molina-Soto Clash Looms

By Salvador Rodriguez

According to Antonio Lozada, manager of former champion Humberto Soto (64-8-2, 35KOs), his fighter will face John Molina (27-4, 22KOs) in a super lightweight eliminator as part of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana undercard on September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Although there is the slightest chance that the fight will be pushed to the September 11 FS1 card in Vegas, the odds are right now that the fight will end up on the Mayweather-Maidana bill.

"Humberto fights on September 13 as part of the Mayweather card, against John Molina. It was confirmed that [the fight will take place] on Mayweather-Maidana, and we are happy even though we know that Molina is a tough fight. Hopefully everything goes well. John is a big opponent, strong, but with good preparation and motivation there are good chances of success," Lozada said.

"We know that a win over Molina, who is coming off a great fight with Lucas Matthysse, will brings us the opportunity to fight a world title and that is something that Soto wants."
