According to the World Boxing Council, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs) will have to drop one of his WBC titles before the end of 2013. Mayweather captured the WBC title at 147 last September with a TKO victory over Victor Ortiz, and last Saturday he won the WBC's belt at 154 with a twelve round decision over Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The WBC is going to have a meeting next week and Mayweather's two titles will be one of items being discussed.

The sanctioning body plans to communicate with Mayweather in order to find out which title he plans to defend on May 3. The WBC would like to sort out the matter before their annual convention in the month of November in Thailand. At the convention, they want to set down mandatory challengers to each title. If Mayweather drops one of the titles, they will order two high ranked contenders to fight for the vacant belt.
