Kenny Bayless, considered to be one of the best referees in boxing, is the leading candidate to officiate the May 5th main event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada - which pits WBA junior middleweight king Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) against five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs).

Bayless, 62, was the referee in Cotto fights against Antonio Margarito (in 2008) and Manny Pacquiao (in 2009). He also worked Mayweather's fights against Oscar de la Hoya (in 2007) and Sugar Shane Mosley (in 2010). Along with Bayless, veteran referee Jay Nady is also being considered.
