Mayweather-Canelo Drills De La Hoya-Floyd Gate Record

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has revealed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) will generate a record-cracking gate figure of over $19.5 million dollars. The number shatters the previous record of $18,419,200 - set in 2007 by Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather.

Mayweather-Canelo actually broke the record last month. Schaefer had previously announced that Mayweather-Canelo broke the record with a figure of at least $18,647,000 - which Schaefer expected to rise around the $19 million mark - but once the numbers were calculated it became clear the overall gate figure was even larger than everyone had anticpated.

Mayweather-Canelo takes place on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the card.

Add the 13% inflation since 2007 and it's still behind DLH-Mayweather.

imagine if this fight was in Bob Arum newly built temporary stadium this fight would have generated 40 Milllion easy
