London - Matty Clarkson is out to deliver a big performance when he challenges ‘Tasty’ Travis Dickinson for the English light heavyweight title on May 17.

The Preston man, Clarkson, faces the Newcastle fighter in the MaxiNutrition Knockout semi-finals and admits he has a “game plan” to deal with Dickinson at Leeds Town Hall, live on Channel 5.

“I’m looking forward to it, I’ve been sparring well and my partners have felt the full force of it,” Matty said.

“We have a few different things that we’re working on and we’re well underway with it.

“We have a game plan - we have that and now we just need to drill that in so that it becomes second nature so that I react in a certain way.”

Clarkson who is the Central Area light heavyweight champion, successfully defended his title against Sheffield’s Lee Duncan in the MaxiNutrition Knockout quarter-finals to progress and is making sure he does everything in his power to win on Saturday.

“I wasn’t too pleased with my performance, but like I said on the night I didn’t come for the performance I came for the result and I got it,” Matty said.

“We’ve got to make sure now that we’re in the best shape for Travis.

“I’ve had a lot of people saying that I’ll have my hands full - I know I will, but so will he and Travis knows that.

"Travis and his team know I’ll turn up a lot better than I did last time out, it will be an interesting fight - I’m not looking beyond Travis – this will be a tough fight for both of us.”

This fantastic night of championship boxing will also see Leeds fighter and newly crowned British light heavyweight champion Bob Ajisafe take on Swanley’s Southern Area champion Leon Senior in the second semi-final to decide who will compete for the first ever MaxiNutrition Knockout title.

The night will also feature a whole host of exciting talent on the undercard including former world heavyweight title contender and Wladimir Klitschko opponent 'Fast' Eddie Chambers, Bradford's Darren Tetley and former WBC world light welterweight champion Junior Witter, as well as Leeds fighters Tommy Broadbent and Damon Jones and Morecambe's Isaac Lowe.
