Matthysse Sparring Hard With Lujan, Others For Peterson

By Jhonny Gonzalez

The interim-junior welterweight champion of the  World Boxing Council (WBC), Argentinean Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31KOs), is getting some tough sparring back home as he prepares for his fight with IBF 140-pound champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16KOs), which is scheduled for May 18th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The match is going to take place at a catch-weight of 141-pounds.

Matthysse's main sparring partner is veteran welterweight contender Sebastian Lujan (40-7-2, 25KOs). Observers are stating that their sparring sessions are very intense and Matthysse is certainly going to look for a knockout victory against Peterson. The sparring rotation includes Venezuelan Fernando Angulo, Mateo Veró, Nino López and Juan Manuel Bonanni. Others to assist Matthysse in camp include Luis "El Gringo" Medina,   Carlos Chumbita, Mariano Robledo and Jonatan Palacio .
