WBC interim-super lightweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30KOs) is in full training for his upcoming defense against Hank Lundy (22-2-1, 11KOs) on January 26th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Showtime will televise the fight.

Matthysse is the mandatory challenger to WBC/WBA champion Danny Garcia. He earned his shot with a tenth round TKO of Ajose Olusegun. He has already asked Golden Boy Promotions to make the fight with Garcia. Golden Boy promotes both Matthysse and Garcia, who has a defense set against Zab Judah on February 9th in Brooklyn.

"I asked for the fight with Garcia, but right he now he has a fight with Zab Judah, so I'll wait. I'm hoping for that fight because I want to be the full champion," Matthysse said.

Matthysse is training for Lundy, but doesn't know too much about his opponent. He doesn't seem worried about what Lundy brings to the table.

"We started working hard three weeks ago. I'm eager to fight because we had a fight scheduled for December 15 but it fell through. Luckily we got Lundy. I have four friends who are giving me a big hand as sparring partners. The truth is, I have not seen a lot of Lundy. He's a fast guy who moves well and has good legs....we'll see what happens. I'm training well and I do not care [about his strengths] because I'm confident. I'm a strong guy and I'm planning for a great fight," Matthysse said.

Hopefully Judah KOs Garcia I always backed Judah as he disappoints but no way Garcia fights mattythsse before getting easy pay day rematch vs khan. That'd be sweet if Judah wins then him and mattysse can rematch while those other fools rematch. Just never liked Garcia him and his family talk too...
Matthysse walked into Judah's infamous uppercut and was unphazed... But Garcia's left hook is supposed to KO Matthysse. Posted from Boxingscene.com App for Android
Come on man. Zab Judah is done and if Garcia don't make an example out of Judah at this point then I...
